Final Outcome Planning

Theme: My theme is of street photography but mainly corroded and manipulated images  I want my work to be displayed in a booklet to convey a documentary feel to the work I will either purchase a booklet or take my own then i’ll attempt to change the features of the booklet by burning, cutting and potentially painting.  Outcome Description: I would like to make several outcomes, as I have many images that I can apply to my work.      I also would make several booklets and display them on metal stands.   All of my images would also be manipulated to fit a corroded and distorted design, as the work i would produce would be similar to rural street photography. Further photos I need: I need to take images using camera film, as i believe i get more well developed images, and more contrast with the black and white. I plan to take both portrait and landscape images in the theme of street photography  Composition/Lighting: In my images, there will be a heavy contrast as

My work had a bit of a bumpy start, as I didn't fully realise what style in photography or what platform I should take my photos on, so I experimented with different styles, even moving outside of my comfort zone and attempting to use Photoshop to drastically change my images, instead of what I did the year prior where I spent most of the year in the dark room developing images constantly making changes and going through several speed bumps. Overall i decided to pursue street photography, as many of the artists i researched would portray their work in black and white One artist I was fond of was Chris Killip, this is because his style street photography resembles a gritty and realistic style of street photography as all of his images display a atmosphere that resembles the great depression, this style gives his work a unique view. As well as this the style of all of his images is of a black and white world ad to the feeling of dread that all of his images have. Many of his popula

Chris Killip

The work of Chris Killip present the lower working class life, as every photograph he takes displays a dark and gritty atmosphere as well as this many of his images display heavy contrast, which describes the dark tone of all of his images. Many of his popular images were takes in economically drained area of England such as Northumbria in Newcastle and North Yorkshire. The choice to have his images closer to home unlike many other photographers I have researched, who choose to go abroad to war torn countries such as South Africa or war photographers who went to Korea and Vietnam. I admire Chris Killip's use of contrast as even though many of the images are very dark they display a great amount of detail in every edge of the image and the choice of taking images of children and families adds a very realistic tone to all of his images.

Robert Frank

Image
An image portraying everyday working class people, as seen by a group of men working in a factory as this is set in 1960's New York An image portraying segregation and the division of class and it's affect towards everyday american people Robert Frank Robert frank is a Swiss photographer who took many photos of American Society from an outsiders view, many of his photos express the idea of the american dream, as well as the existence of the lower class and segregation, as in many of his images it either  shows an idea of the simpler times america once experienced, or the dark truth that plague american people less fortunate than others. As well as this the time period is well fitting to what Robert frank is portraying in his photos as the technology at the time restricted many photographers initial ideas, as there is no colour in any of the images, but with Robert frank, the design of black and white adds a gritty realistic tone to all of t

Dorothea Lange

Image
In this image we are given more detail about the conditions many american families had to live with as we see a car in the distance yet it probably has no fuel and is a temporary home, as well as this we can see firewood as the family is forced to camp out away from the city      One of Dorothea Lange's most iconic images of her and her young children in the middle of the great depression  Images taken by Dorothea Lange were heavily influenced by real life events that affected both her family and the majority of american people. This is because many of Dorothea Lange's images display her personal struggles with her young children during the great depression, which is arguably one of the hardest points in american history for both working class and the upper class as many businesses were forced to close down, meaning many jobs were lost and many everyday people were in very poor conditions. Like i previously mentioned with the work of Robert Frank the c

Ansel Adams

Image
The Work of Ansel Adams is all made with some of the "primitive" forms of technology at the time, as all of the images, as all of his images we're taken with cameras that required film, which is why they were all displayed in black and white as at the time the technology wouldn't allow colour on regular film, but colour would be on slide film that were used in a way that resembles a presentation. Ansel Adams' work is of nature and its indescribable beauty, as some of my work of the past mirrors his style, for example the close-up of the leaf is similar to one of my latest photo shoots in a forest area in coulsdon. Taking many close-ups images of nature rotten man-made landmarks and detailed plantlife.

Joe Cornish

Image
Joe Cornish Joe Cornish is a landscape photographer who personally I believe has a vast amount of beautiful images of the the countryside, and is possible the work I will follow up with further in my coursework. His use of colour makes his work look unique, as the sight of the sun looming over the horizon adds a heartwarming feeling to the viewer, as colours such as yellow, orange and blue gives the image some biblical imagery. As well as this the images by Joe Cornish reflect a very good mood as during my research into landscape i saw lots of images that display subtle dark themes, for example large amounts of the image being covered in darkness or having realistic or modern themes such as Civil war of terrorism in third world countries, but because the images portrayed are close to home they have different themes.

Charlie Waite

Image
Charlie Waite's style in Landscape photography is very interesting because of his choice to have range of different images that show heavy amounts of one specific colour, for example in one of the images above the picture is mainly purple and blue, whereas in Charlie Waite's other colours are presented which show he's not prone to repeating himself, as in other images images can heavy amounts of green, grey and blue and also occasionally white, this may present the different moods that are felt throughout the different seasons. As some of his images have actually been taken during the event of a thunderstorm.
